Membership

Membership to our club is absolutely free, provided that you can get into the Student Recreation Center at the University of Arizona. This means that if you are a paying student (undergraduate, graduate, etc) then you just need to present your CatCard. If not then consult the table below. You can also find the same purchasing information at the Campus Rec website. Also don't forget our practice times and location:

Where: University of Arizona Student Recreation Center North Gym
When: Mondays 7-10 PM and Fridays 6-9 PM

Also, please take a moment to read over some club rules.

The price is pro-rated halfway through each semester. Contact the president to be sponsored. The list is first-come first-served on the discretion of the president, so don't wait until the last minute.

Sponsored pass Semester: $75

This could mean the summer following if you graduate in the fall. Note that you have to sign up for this the semester right after graduation, although if you skip a summer, that's okay. You can also only get one of these passes.

Listserv

Currently, our most popular means to communicate with members, besides this website, is through email. If you want to receive updates on court availabilities, tournaments (both local and in Phoenix), training sessions, or etc, email us at UAZbadminton@gmail.com. You will be placed on a emailing list known as a listserv, and will receive our emails.

Equipment needs

All of our participants bring their own rackets, although rackets can be borrowed from those with extras (don't count on this all the time) or rented from the Rec Center for $1 with a photo ID. One of our coaches, Kevin Bao, sells feather shuttles for $16 a dozen (a very good price for this quality of birdie), or you can bring your own. Kevin also restring rackets for $20 ($15 if string provided). This multi-talented man also has rackets for sale at very reasonable prices for those interested. Also, Tucsonians can check out Racquet Shack on Country Club and Fort Lowell for various equipment needs. Otherwise, check out the links section for online shopping resources.

Coaching

We have two coaches, Kevin Bao and Rob Waters, and they hold semester-long classes. These classes take place on Fridays from 6-8PM and are ABSOLUTELY FREE! We do ask, however, that you pay for the cost of shuttles used during training. There will also be a number of beginners' clinics that teach the basics of the game for those interested in picking up some techniques or simply sharpening them. Details will be released throughout each semester as demand dictates.
